簡介：Boozy, brassy Apple Annie, a beggar with a basket of apples, is as much as part of downtown New York as old Broadway itself. Bootlegger Dave the Dude is a sucker for her apples --- he thinks they bring him luck. But Dave and girlfriend Queenie Martin need a lot more than luck when it turns out that Annie is in a jam and only they can help Annie's daughter Louise, who has lived all her life in a Spanish convent, is coming to America with a Count and his son. The count's son wants to marry Louise, who thinks her mother is part of New York society. It's up to Dave and Queenie and their Runyonesque cronies to turn Annie into a lady and convince the Count and his son that they are hobnobbing with New York's elite.

簡介：影片虛構了一場登陸火星的航天計劃。但不幸的是，電影編劇破壞了電影縝密的調查研究，粗制濫造了一些情節，比如影片最后指揮官以奇怪的宗教立場中止了登陸火星行動。 電影的拍攝器材是cinemascope（應該是當時唯一的一臺，歸福克斯所有，當時有另外兩部大制作《地心歷險記》和《海底兩萬里》也是這臺機器拍攝的）。和同時期的大制作科幻電影一樣，電影也聘請了火箭專家布勞恩作為電影的技術顧問，電影中展示了V2火箭，以及太空站，也屬影史首次。 此外，電影在意識形態上也有所進步，并不局限于五十年代的冷戰主題，電影的主題更為宏大，同時電影也在演員的膚色上“精心挑選”，力求一定的平衡。 當然，電影最大的問題就是為了保證科學性而喪失了娛樂性。顯然，本片想要擺脫老科幻電影的”低級趣味“，但是當火星不再出現怪獸和外星人的時候，如何能夠抓住觀眾眼球是電影面臨的巨大挑戰。可無論如何，這部《征服太空》無疑是一部不可忽視的科幻杰作。
